boy howdy, do i love snow!! on wednesday, it started snowing lightly in the morning, then with gathering strenth throughout the day. it snowed constantly for over 24 hours. we ended up with somewhere between 8 & 12 inches (depending what part of the KC metro area). it's absolutetly gorgeous! the beauty of the fresh, powdery snow almost makes up for the below-zero wind chills we've had for at least a week. the tv news keeps reminding us that we are experiencing "record lows".
wednesday night, while it was still snowing heavily, J & i braved the suprisingly un-plowed streets (this was at least 10 hours after the snow started... not like they had no warning! we saw only 2 plows during our 16 mile drive) to get some pics of the plaza lights with snow. we didn't get as many pics as we wanted because i didn't realize my camera battery was almost dead... but click here to see what we did get. it was so pretty. the news said that this is not the norm for winter in KC... guess it was just special to welcome us here. and to make it really crappy for J to work on his truck (which has been out of commission all week). i know he's been stressed out about it (and i've been stressed out because i know he's stressed out which added to me already being stressed out) but he's got it basically fixed & will be back to work tomorrow. i know that will make him feel better about things.
we also know where we are (hopefully) going to live. it's not a house or duplex like we both kinda wanted. it's an apartment... but they do have garages (for an extra charge, which i plan on paying by summer when the soft top goes on the jeep). so, tomorrow, i'm going to go fill out the paperwork & find out what we need to pay to get in. if it all works out, we'll be in our place by next friday. then the problem becomes how do we get our crap from st. louis to kc. until we do, we don't have a bed or tv or... basically anything but our clothes. it would be cool if we make it back to STL next weekend because then i can go to my cousin adrienne's wedding on saturday.
big excitement for next week is that i'm starting work on monday. well, actually i'm starting training but it's 40 hours a week at my regular pay, so it's work. i got my "new hire packet" yesterday. the dress is business casual but they include jeans in that, so i can wear pretty much all the clothes i have to work, which is nice.
so, aside from J's truck troubles, it's been a good week. i'm excited to start having a regular schedule with the job & everything. i need to get down to UMKC monday afternoon to find out when/if i can get my degree in the evening & can start in january. the apartment we want is literally a half mile from my work, so i could walk when it gets warmer. as i often ask, keep your fingers crossed for us (with J's truck & the apartment). hopefully good things on the horizon next week!
2 what you said.
